About This Place

Tikkar Mata Temple is a local Devi temple on a hilltop a short drive from Mini Goa. For people in the villages around here it's an important place, and many families come to pray before weddings or after a new birth.

The climb up is by steps, with a few places to rest along the way and small stalls selling prasad near the top. From the temple you get an open view of the countryside around, and on a clear day you can make out the reservoir in the distance. It gets busy during the Navratris, when there are bhajans, langar and a small fair. Outside festival time it's peaceful, and a good short stop if you're already in the area. Dress modestly and remove your shoes before entering.

“We went to Tikkar Mata Temple on a Sunday. The temple is very peaceful and clean. The priests were kind and explained the history to us. Many families come here, so it feels safe. Parking gets full on weekends. Go early in the morning to avoid the crowd. Would go again.”
