Day trips from Mini Goa
Pathankot is right where Punjab, Himachal and J&K meet, so from Mini Goa you can head in three different directions. Within one to three hours you'll find old temples, forts, hill stations and more lakes.
Under an hour away
Ranjit Sagar Dam itself, the Atal Setu bridge near Basohli, the Mukteshwar Mahadev cave temple on the Ravi and Nurpur Fort on the Himachal side are all short drives. Any one of them fits easily into the same day as the lake. Each has its own page on this site with timings and directions.
Longer trips
For hills, Dalhousie and Khajjiar are the usual choice, about 80 to 100 km away. Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj are around 90 km, with monasteries, cafés and treks. Amritsar is about 110 km and needs a full day if you want the Golden Temple and the Wagah border ceremony both. Our destination guides have routes and suggested plans for each.
Good to know
- Hill roads take longer than the kilometres suggest, especially after rain. Add extra time.
- Leave early so you're back before dark.
- Carry ID. There are police checkpoints when you cross into J&K.
- Fill up the tank in Pathankot before going up.
