About Kartarpur Corridor (Dera Baba Nanak)
Dera Baba Nanak, in Gurdaspur district, is a historic Sikh town on the Ravi close to the border. Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent his final years across the river at Kartarpur, where Gurdwara Darbar Sahib now stands in Pakistan. The visa-free Kartarpur Corridor opened in November 2019, but India suspended passage in May 2025, and as of September 2026 the Ministry of Home Affairs says it remains closed for security reasons. You can still visit the gurdwaras in Dera Baba Nanak and the darshan sthal viewpoint near the border, from where Gurdwara Darbar Sahib is visible across the fields.
