Kathgarh Temple

Kathgarh Temple is one of the most unique and historically significant temples in the region, located on the scenic banks of the Beas River about 20 km from Pathankot. The temple is renowned for its extraordinary twin Shivlings — two naturally formed stone pillars that are believed to represent Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. What makes these Shivlings truly remarkable is that they are said to grow by a few millimeters each year, a phenomenon that has fascinated devotees and researchers alike for centuries. The temple complex sits in a dramatic gorge where the Beas River cuts through rocky terrain, creating a stunning natural amphitheater. The sound of the river, the ancient stone structures, and the towering cliffs on either side create an atmosphere of timeless devotion. Kathgarh finds mention in ancient texts and is considered one of the 64 Shaktipeeths. Pilgrims visit throughout the year, but the temple sees its largest gatherings during Maha Shivratri and the annual Kathgarh Mela. The surrounding area also offers riverside walks and opportunities to explore the unique geology of the Beas gorge.
