About Palampur
Palampur sits at about 1,400 m in the Kangra valley, surrounded by tea gardens that produce Kangra tea, which has a GI tag. The snow-covered Dhauladhar rises directly behind the town. Nearby are the 13th-century Baijnath temple, one of Himachal's finest stone temples, and Andretta, an artists' and potters' village. Saurabh Van Vihar, a forest park named after Kargil hero Capt. Saurabh Kalia, is good for a walk.
