About Kangra Fort
Kangra Fort stands on a ridge above the confluence of the Banganga and Manjhi, just outside Kangra town. It was the stronghold of the Katoch dynasty and was besieged by many rulers over the centuries; the 1905 earthquake left much of it in ruins. A museum named after Maharaja Sansar Chand Katoch sits near the entrance. In Kangra town, the Bajreshwari Devi temple is a major Shakti peetha, and Chamunda Devi temple is on the road to Palampur.
